The 2024 Grifties

Quick plug for one of the funniest online New Right (adjacent?) events, WORTH IT.

I’ve been a fan of Hotep Jesus for a while, and his Hotep… “community” I guess you’d call it, but I’m sure they’d hate that term. Maybe they prefer “faction…”

Anyway, they’re putting on their 5th annual event soon, the 2024 Grifties awards ceremony. I highly recommend this show, it’s so good.

Of course, they call themselves the “Hotep Nation,” maybe I should’ve just gone with that.

I imagine you know what a grifter is, and the idea is that for about $4, you can nominate a personality who was a top tier opportunist that year at grifties.com, and anyone can cast 10 votes per hour on the website for free to bump their favorite shill up the list. For example, in 2023, Travis Kelce won Sports Grifter of the Year, my boy Vivek Ramaswamy won Political Grifter of the Year, and Ronald Reagan and Shaun King were inducted into the Grifter Hall of Fame, hah. Sometimes the nominee actually shows up to accept the award, those are the best.

Typically the format is 1-2 hrs, they used to do a lot of green screen, 2022 was the first one I saw.

But it’s growing every year. Last year it was popular enough to warrant a live event, even!

I’m not sure how long the nomination and voting windows are, but the participation this year so far seems sluggish. So I’m plugging it here, even though I’m in no way involved with the project (other than as a citizen contributing some nominations myself), I just want to see it succeed. Hell, I am genuinely entertained with this endeavor and just want to share it with everyone I can find.

So if nothing else, please go to Grifties.com and cast your votes for free. Come back a couple times a day or throughout the week, and stay in touch to see when the show goes live. Last year they offered an early access viewing for a fee (around $5 bucks IIRC, and worth every penny), and then released it free maybe a month later. Enjoy the show, respect the grift!
